What to see and do in Harajuku

WHAT YOU WILL FIND IN THIS POST

Harajuku, often described as the heart of Japanese youth culture, attracts many visitors from Japan and abroad for its kawaii culture. However, Harajuku has many more reasons to be one of the best tourist spots in Tokyo. The Harajuku district is full of trendy shops, quirky food restaurants, souvenir shops, and themed cafes waiting for you to discover them. There are plenty of things to see and do in Harajuku, such as the ones we tell you about below.

TAKESHITA EN HARAJUKU

Enjoy the Kawaii Mecca on Takeshita Street

You've probably seen the photo of the street always packed with people and small shops. Takeshita Street (竹下通り), widely recognized as the main shopping street in the Harajuku area.

This pedestrian street is known for its trendy shops and colorful street performers. You'll also find a variety of food stalls and restaurants, there are many street stalls with unique and fun items.

Explore Yoyogi Park

This park is one of the major attractions in Harajuku. Yoyogi Park is one of the largest parks in Tokyo and is located in the Harajuku district. Located next to the Meiji Shrine, Yoyogi Park is an ideal place to relax and escape the traffic and hustle and bustle of Tokyo. You can take a stroll, enjoy a picnic or simply admire nature.

Yoyogi Park is also known for its cultural events and festivals, such as the Spring Festival, which is held every year in March. The park is also a popular picnic spot, so don't forget to bring your own food and drinks.

In addition to all these activities, the park also features fitness facilities such as a running track and an outdoor training area. It is a perfect place to spend the day and enjoy the beauty of nature in the middle of the city.

You can visit the Museum Meiji Jingu : Opened in 2019 and designed by star architect Kuma Kengo, the museum displays treasures from the shrine's collection, including interesting personal items of the Emperor and Empress and the carriage in which the Emperor rode to the formal declaration of the Meiji Constitution in 1889.

Visit the Meiji Temple

Is one of the most important in Tokyo and one of the city's main tourist spots, it is known for its beautiful architecture and calm, relaxed atmosphere. At the entrance to the shrine grounds is an imposing torii gate. After passing through the gate, the bustle of Tokyo is replaced by a peaceful forest.

Meiji Temple was built in 1920 and is dedicated to the Emperors Meiji and Shōken, who ruled Japan in the early 20th century. The temple is a place of pilgrimage for many Japanese and is a popular place for prayers and offerings.

The temple features a beautiful Japanese garden called The English Garden, which is an ideal place to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature. There is also a large main hall of the temple where religious ceremonies and special events are held.

If you are in Harajuku, Meiji Temple is a must-see. It is an ideal place to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and enjoy the tranquility and beauty of the temple.

Try Harajuku street food

Harajuku is known for its street stalls that sell a wide variety of street food. These stalls are a popular way to eat in Japan and offer a wide variety of options from sweets and drinks to more substantial dishes.

To try the prettiest and tastiest ice cream, head to Ice World Gelato. This animal-shaped ice cream will steal your heart. To try rainbow cotton candy in Harajuku, head to Momi & Toys.

For me, the star dish is the crepes! There are many creperies and they are all delicious. Harajuku street food is not only tasty, but it also looks amazing.

Stroll through the Omotesando neighborhood

Omotesando is a Tokyo neighborhood known for its designer shops and modern architecture. Located near Harajuku Station, it's a nice place to stroll around and see the architecture.

Omotesando is known for its famous Omotesando Dori street, which is a tree-lined pedestrian street with The most exclusive shops in the city and architectural studios. The street is a popular place to see and be seen and is a tourist attraction in itself.

Our favorite in Omotesando is in a back of Omotesando on a street with low houses HARAJUKU GYOZARO , a well-located place near Omotesando Hills but small and quite average, but where the Gyozas are delicious!

He Harajuku Bridge is a pedestrian bridge that spans the Fuchu River in Tokyo, Japan. It is located near Harajuku Station and is a popular place to see and be seen, especially among young people who flock to Harajuku to browse designer clothes and enjoy the fashion and youth culture.

The bridge is known for its unique design, with two steel arches that meet in a single central tower. It is illuminated with LED lights at night, giving it a particularly attractive appearance.
