To start off, I'm sure this isn't the first post you've seen about how to buy cheap flights, so we're not going to go into detail explaining basic things like:
- Buy the flight in advance
- Have flexibility when choosing dates
- Travel with LowCost companies
- Find a midweek flight
These points have already been explained in other posts and people are generally already carrying them out, but the tips we are going to give you now are not known by many people and they have worked wonders for us.
Try to travel without a suitcase
You're going to think we're crazy, but many times if it's a long flight and you have many stopovers it's the cheapest way to get the best final price, since for example, if you're going to Australia and you are travelling with only hand luggage you can get the flight for only 300 euros (Spain – France – Australia) since adding a suitcase to the three flights would add about 120 euros, so you have to weigh up whether it is worth spending that extra or you can spend those 120 euros at your destination.
You can also travel backpacking with a 30-litre backpack that can be taken as hand luggage, saving between 20 and 50 euros per flight, since for example Ryanair is charging 35 euros for a 15-kilo suitcase and for some time now hand luggage has not been included in the ticket price, only a small backpack measuring 40cm x 20cm x 25cm which if it is for a getaway may be more than enough for you.
use the "low cost guide" website
It's a super useful page, basically because here you can find many super cheap flights at ridiculous prices. For example, a round trip to New York from Madrid for 190 euros. These types of flights are usually errors made by the airline by uploading incorrect prices or for very specific dates, but if it suits you, these are opportunities that you can't miss.
Find your flight on skyscanner
Skyscanner is the best flight comparator!! First of all, before starting the search, it is extremely important that we always open it with the browser configured as "incognito page", because this way the computer does not save a history of your searches, subsequently increasing the price.
To start, one of the best options to see the cheapest price is to search by month first and then search by date, since this way you at least know the cheapest date of the entire year.

Next tip: instead of searching by city, always search by country of departure and destination because you would be surprised by the price difference there sometimes is. For example, if you live in Valencia and the flight Valencia – Sydney It's 2000 euros, but if you search for example Madrid – Sydney In the same month and on the same dates, it is 400 euros, so obviously it is better to go from Valencia to Madrid for 20 or 30 euros, to be able to catch a 400 euro flight rather than paying 2000 euros.
SEARCH FOR FLIGHTS FROM YOUR DESTINATION
IT SOUNDS WEIRD BUT IT WORKS!

Another tip that may sound strange but usually works is to look at them in reverse. To try to explain this, let's take as an example a flight to Australia leaving from Spain.
To find the cheapest possible flight to AustraliaWe are aware that we are going to have to make stopovers no matter what, so the best way to find the cheapest connections is to put the country backwards. Instead of putting Spain as the departure point, we put that we are leaving from Australia and as the destination we put “anywhere”.
With this, we will be shown a list of all the countries in order of price to which you can fly from Australia and this will give us a reference.
Example:
Maybe from Spain the cheapest flight to Australia are 600 euros but from Germany or Greece they are only 200 euros, so if for example we see that the flight from the Perth to Athens is 200 euros, so most likely a flight from Athens will also be more or less 200 euros. In this way we know the countries from which the cheapest flights to Australia depart from Europe. At this point, the only thing left to do is to find a cheap flight to that destination, in this case to Athens, and since Athens is in the European Union, we can find them for 40 euros. Adding everything up, we can fly from Madrid to Perth for 260 euros and we also took advantage of a few days enjoying Athens.
TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE ENTIRE TERRITORY
Finally, you have to take into account the connections and the colonies belonging to the countries, that is to say, for example, France has several islands in the Caribbean that belong to France and are technically part of the European Union, as is Holland, so from Spain to fly, for example, to Puerto Rico, it may cost you 1000 euros, but if you fly, for example, to Guadeloupe, which is technically a French island, the flight from Paris to the Caribbean can cost you 100 euros, even if you are doing the same amount of kilometers, since it is technically part of France, the flights are much cheaper and they even have direct flights. Normally you would have searched only from your country of origin to the Caribbean and it would have cost you three times the price.
Extra Tip:
