Who is Pompompurin?
Pom Pom Purin is a small dog created by Sanrio. Inspired by the dessert of the same name, he looks like a caramel pudding (purin in Japanese) and lives in a room called the "PomPom Room".
Pompompurin Cafe in Harajuku
Pompompurin Cafe is located in Harajuku (原宿), one of Japan's most famous suburbs, is famous for its quirky culture, fashion, and kawaii shops and cafes.
This unique cafe, opened in 2014, Pompompurin Cafe in Harajuku, was the Tokyo's first character-themed cafeYou can enjoy it all year round on the third floor of the Cute Cube building.
Access
The cafe is located in Cute Cube Harakuju, which is located on the famous street TakeshitaIt's pretty easy to find thanks to the signs that tell you where to go. You walk up some stairs to get to the cafe and you're greeted by a yellow and brown colored atmosphere, a cute entrance to the cafe itself, and of course, pictures and figurines of Pompompurin.
The cafe is a 3-minute walk from Harajuku Station and a 7-minute walk from Meiji Jingūmae Station.
📍3F Cute Cube Harajuku, 1 Chōme-7-1 Jingūmae, Shibuya City, 150-0001 Tokyo
Opening hours: 11 a.m.–9 p.m. (last food order 8 p.m., last drink order 8:30 p.m.)
What is the interior like?
From the moment you walk in, you'll be greeted by a Pompompurin statue in the centre of the café, inviting you to move forward. The Pompompurin Cafe is completely decorated in yellow and brown tones that recall the colour of his fur and his characteristic beret. Even the tables and employee uniforms, who welcome you to the choir of “Pompompurin coffee and yokozo” (ポンポンプリンカフェへようこそ), which means «Welcome to Café Pompompurin!»
Throughout the cafe, you will find Pompompurin stuffed animals distributed around the place. Customers can pick one up to cuddle or use as a photo prop. As well as Super kawaii headbands with ears…Just be careful with everything while you're eating!
Pompompurin Cafe- Trying their food
The menu of the Pompompurin Cafe It includes both sweet and savory options, making it perfect for a snack or any time of day. Ordering is super easy, they have a special menu in English for foreign visitors who want to enjoy the experience.
We asked for the Soufflé Omelette Rice designed to look like Pompompurin taking a nap while half covered with a blanket and Pompompurin's Beef Stroganoff with an adorable Pompompurin face made with rice.
TIP: In some cafes, your time is limited, like in the Kirby Cafe, but not in the Pompompurin Cafe, which I loved. Make sure you enjoy everything and relax after a busy day in Harajuku.
He April 16th is the birthday from Pompompurin, so on that day the coffee will have a special dessert prepared, which was what we asked for, a Beautiful strawberry and cream cake!! Plus, there were special decorations! We also ordered some delicious waffles with Pompompurin whipped cream!
As for drinks, Latte decorated with Pompompurin in the foam, a Muffin's Caffe Mocha and a Chocolate Dream Parfait in a super cute little jar and decorated as only the Japanese know how.
And what is a themed cafe without exclusive products and items? Well, Pompompurin Cafe is no exception. Next to the cashier and before leaving the cafe there is a merchandising area where you will find both exclusive products and Sanrio products of our beloved Pompompurin.
It must be said that their merchandising part is not as big as it is in cafes like Kirby or Pokemon Cafe.
Dreamer Review – Is Pompompurin Cafe worth visiting?
In my opinion, he is a blunderer YEAH. It's what you expect from a Themed cafe in JapanThe staff is super friendly and the decoration is super well cared for.
It seems to me a great option to try delicious desserts and themed drinks in the environment of Harajuku.
Plus, the food is very tasty for a themed cafe.
Visit Pompompurin Cafe - DREAMER TIP
Pompompurin Cafe does not accept advance reservations.
On our previous visits to the Pompompurin Cafe We had to wait in a queue that went down the stairs (from half an hour to an hour wait).
However, in Our last visit, we just had to register us On a screen at the door of the cafe, it told us the approximate waiting time and you could go for a walk, for example, to Sanrio Cute Cube from the ground floor… (or that's what we did…) they send you mobile notifications telling you how much time you have left to wait and to be there at least ten minutes early, so you can manage your time.
Of course, as we always tell you, avoid visiting Pompompurin Cafe on weekends and if you can, go in the afternoon.
We hope you enjoy Pompompurin Cafe in Harajuku as much as we did!
